Surprise Chef is MCP-first: instead of building yet another chat interface, it’s a Cloudflare Worker exposing 31 tools that any AI can connect to — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok. Photograph your shelves and your AI builds the pantry inventory; ask what to cook and it answers knowing your ingredients, your family’s allergies and dislikes, and your meal history. A Next.js PWA is the visual surface onto the same data — one kitchen, many windows.
Around it: weekly meal plans with per-person RSVPs, smart recipes with parallel cooking tracks and timers, grocery price tracking with Coles/Woolworths matching, AI-generated recipe artwork, and public recipe sharing. Live in production with 200+ households.
Named after the 2001–03 Australian TV show where a chef would surprise a shopper and cook dinner in their own home.
